Sky Energy Africa launched Malawi's first integrated electric mobility ecosystem on October 30, 2026. The Lilongwe rollout includes 100 electric vehicles and 40 public charging stations. A digital platform called Sky eRide connects passengers, drivers, and charging access.
Service details
The initiative launched in Lilongwe as an electric vehicle taxi service. It aims to offer an alternative to conventional transport during fuel shortages. Sky Energy Africa said the service will make electric mobility available to non-owners.
Company context
Sky Energy Africa first introduced electric vehicles to Malawi in 2023. Founder and managing director Schizzo Thomson leads the company. The new service extends its work from vehicle deployment to integrated transport operations.
How Sky eRide works
Riders can book trips, see estimated fares, and track assigned cars. EV owners can locate chargers, start sessions with QR codes, and complete digital payments. The app combines passenger access and charging tools in one platform.
Customer bookings are expected to open on December 1, 2026. The company plans to expand charging infrastructure and strengthen public confidence. It will also continue working with government and private partners.
