OpenAI has announced a security partnership with Hacktron to find vulnerabilities in its systems. The teams will focus on how OpenAI systems interact with third-party services. OpenAI also expanded Hacktron's access to its frontier models through Daybreak Red.
Partnership details
OpenAI said it became familiar with Hacktron through the Security Bug Bounty program. The company was impressed by the impact of the vulnerabilities Hacktron researchers found and disclosed. Earlier this week, OpenAI also said Cathedral researchers would join its next security sprint.
Hacktron's work
Hacktron builds AI agents for code review, penetration testing, and red teaming. Its researchers have uncovered weaknesses in how applications, cloud infrastructure, and identity systems connect. The team's research shows how AI tools can help security engineers move faster and test more ambitious targets.
Bug bounty update
OpenAI raised its bug bounty rewards to give independent researchers more reason to pursue vulnerabilities. The Security Bug Bounty program lists which systems are in scope and accepts submissions from outside researchers. Hacktron will work alongside OpenAI engineers to test priority areas.
Researchers can visit the Security Bug Bounty program to see in-scope systems or submit a finding. OpenAI said it is grateful to Hacktron and other independent researchers who report weaknesses. The two teams will test high-priority areas together under the new partnership.
