British fintech Revolut plans to invest US$1 billion in Latin America over the next few years. The company offers digital banking and financial services and already operates in about 40 markets. Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Argentina are the main targets.
Where the money goes
The investment will support geographic expansion, product development, and daily operations. Brazil and Mexico are already among the company's five fastest-growing markets worldwide. Revolut expects the Americas to deliver one in four new customers by 2027.
Company scale and traction
Revolut was founded in the United Kingdom in 2015 and now serves about 80 million customers. The company recently completed a secondary share sale that valued it at US$115 billion. Mexico reached 1 million customers about eight months after launch.
How expansion will work
The company operates in Brazil as a direct credit society and is discussing a full banking license there. In Colombia it has full banking authorization and is running final internal tests. In Argentina it bought an inactive local bank and plans to operate in the second half of 2027.
Peru has completed the first regulatory stage for a new bank and still needs an operational review. Revolut also expects to enter Chile later, though no timeline is set. The company describes the US$1 billion as a minimum commitment that could increase.
