Notes.fm, a music royalty collection platform, has secured $5 million in new funding from a coalition of artists, managers, and industry executives. The company helps musicians and music businesses identify and recover royalties that are often left unclaimed across fragmented payment systems. The round will support platform development and global marketing as Notes.fm expands its financial infrastructure for the music economy.

Strategic Backing From Artists and Executives

The investment includes participation from Benny Blanco, Zach Bryan and his managers Stefan Max and Danny Kang, Tainy, Blake Slatkin, and Mt. Joy frontman Matt Quinn. Influential executives such as WME Group Executive Chairman Ari Emanuel, Chord Music founder Sam Hendel, and former Atlantic Records chief Julie Greenwald also joined the round. Management and music companies including Foundations, Mick Management, Twenty Ten Management, Triple 8, KMGMT, Good Boy, Mexican Summer, and Breakaway provided additional support.

Unified Distribution and Royalty Collection

Notes.fm recently introduced Releases, a feature that unifies distribution, publishing administration, and money management in one workflow. The launch is supported by a new partnership with Stripe, allowing artists and their teams to oversee creative output and income from a single home. The company charges a flat monthly subscription fee and takes zero percent participation in distribution and publishing royalties.

Catalog Review and Missing Royalty Recovery

Beyond distribution, Notes.fm offers catalog royalty review technology that helps rights owners detect missing royalties and correct underlying issues. Users can start by providing a musician name and list of songs, after which the platform reviews streaming services, collection societies, and registries such as the MLC and SoundExchange. The system then helps artists claim recovered royalties and ensures future payments flow correctly.

Early Results and Music Data Tools

Since its public launch, Notes.fm has identified more than $10 million in previously unclaimed royalties across catalogs including James Blake, Zach Bryan, Mt. Joy, and Girl In Red. The company has also launched Credits.fm, a free and open music credits database indexing more than 150 million song codes and credits. These tools are designed to improve royalty data and artist compensation in an era increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence.

Leadership Perspective on the Growth

Tim Luckow, CEO and co-founder of Notes.fm, said music is evolving quickly and the finance systems around it need to evolve faster. He noted that between releasing, crediting, and collecting on music, many places exist where money falls through the cracks. The platform was built to help artists release music, collect every royalty from day one, and recover missed income.

Building a Financial Layer for Artists

Co-founder Derek Davies added that the round was funded almost exclusively by artists, managers, and music industry strategics with firsthand understanding of these issues. He said the response from the music community has been meaningful and that the raise provides resources to keep building infrastructure for the next generation of artists. Notes.fm aims to bring clarity to a complex system that has left hundreds of millions of dollars in royalties unclaimed every year.

With this new funding, Notes.fm is positioned to accelerate its development of a more complete financial layer for the modern music ecosystem. The company's integrated financial accounts give users more flexibility in how they collect, store, transfer, and earn on income. By combining royalty discovery, payments infrastructure, and music-centric financial management, Notes.fm aims to support artists as their careers and audiences grow.
