Croatian drone technology firm Orqa has secured $14.6 Million in a Series A funding round to fuel its international growth. The investment was led by Expeditions, a fund specializing in European security, and will be used to scale production and expand its global footprint. This strategic financing underscores the growing importance of unmanned aerial systems in both commercial and defense sectors.

Strategic Funding for Global Expansion

The round saw participation from prominent international investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Taiwania Capital, AYMO Ventures, and Radius Capital. This latest injection brings Orqa's total funding to $23.3 million, following a previous $6.7 million round. These funds are earmarked for strengthening research and development, expanding the workforce, and exploring potential strategic acquisitions.

Orqa plans to significantly boost its manufacturing output from its current capacity of 280,000 NDAA-compliant drones per year at its Croatian facility. The company is launching a Global Manufacturing Partnership Program to establish an international network of trusted production partners. This initiative aims to scale production to over one million drones annually, meeting rising global demand.

A Sovereign Supply Chain for Modern Defense

A key element of Orqa's strategy is its commitment to a resilient, non-Chinese supply chain for its dual-use technology. The company designs and manufactures a wide range of critical components in-house, guaranteeing complete supply chain sovereignty. This approach addresses growing security concerns and regulatory requirements in Western defense and enterprise markets.

Co-founder Srdjan Kovačević has highlighted the shifting dynamics of modern warfare, where inexpensive drones pose a significant challenge to traditional air defense systems. He argues that current defense postures are unsustainable, advocating for the integration of organic unmanned capabilities directly into military units. This vision positions Orqa's technology as a practical solution for contemporary security threats.

Investor Confidence and Market Position

Lead investor Expeditions praised Orqa's unique position, describing the company as an industrial powerhouse controlling a critical node in Europe's defense supply chain. Dr. Mikołaj Firlej noted the company's significant manufacturing advantages, fast-growing commercial traction, and superb capital efficiency. This endorsement reflects strong confidence in Orqa's long-term value and customer-centric approach.

Antoine Moyroud of Lightspeed Venture Partners echoed this sentiment, stating that Orqa is redefining sovereign, high-performance drone manufacturing. He emphasized the team's ability to deliver where others fall short, combining deep technical expertise with a disciplined and scalable production model. Orqa's global program demonstrates a keen understanding of the current geopolitical landscape and market needs.

This successful Series A funding round marks a pivotal moment for Orqa, solidifying its role as a key innovator in the unmanned systems industry. The investment will accelerate the company's mission to provide sovereign, high-performance drone technology on a global scale. Orqa is now strongly positioned to meet the escalating demand from both defense and commercial sectors worldwide.
