Avenue Growth Partners has successfully closed its second investment fund at a $155 million hard cap, significantly expanding its capacity to invest in specialized technology companies. This new fund, nearly double the size of its $83 million predecessor, was oversubscribed, signaling strong investor confidence in the firm's strategy. The capital will be deployed to back early growth-stage vertical software and AI-enabled businesses aiming to modernize complex industries.

A Concentrated, High-Impact Strategy

At the core of Avenue's approach is a concentrated portfolio model, ensuring each investment receives substantial attention and resources from the firm's partners. Co-founder Ryan Russell emphasized that this focus is crucial, stating their goal is to provide founders with the dedicated support needed to win their respective categories. Fund II enhances this partnership-driven model by providing greater capital backing for each company in the portfolio.

Targeting Niche Industries with AI

The firm targets software companies that leverage artificial intelligence to transform industries with intricate operational workflows and high barriers to entry. Co-founder Brian Goldsmith noted that AI enables smaller, agile teams to build deeply integrated products for historically complex sectors. Avenue is actively backing founders creating AI-native platforms in markets such as life sciences, legal services, and logistics.

Early Deployments from Fund II

Avenue has already begun deploying capital from its new fund, demonstrating its commitment to its investment thesis. The firm led an $8 million Series A financing for Scispot, an AI-native operating platform designed for life sciences laboratories. It also led a $10 million Series A round for Billables AI, which provides AI-powered timekeeping and revenue software for law firms.

Validation from Inaugural Fund

The success of Avenue's strategy is further validated by the performance of its first fund's portfolio companies. Two of these companies, Hive and Minga, recently completed recapitalization transactions with later-stage growth equity and buyout firms. Minga's CEO, Jason Richards, praised Avenue's continued operational support, highlighting their role in scaling the business and their ongoing engagement post-transaction.

Strong Institutional Support

The oversubscribed Fund II attracted commitments from a diverse group of sophisticated institutional investors, underscoring the market's belief in Avenue's specialized focus. Limited partners include public pension funds, private foundations, funds of funds, and prominent family offices. Notable investors such as Accolade Partners, Fairview Capital, GCM Grosvenor, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art participated in the fund.

With the successful close of its $155 million second fund, Avenue Growth Partners is well-positioned to deepen its impact on the vertical software landscape. The firm's disciplined, concentrated strategy combined with a focus on AI-native platforms addresses a critical need for innovation in specialized industries. This new capital will empower Avenue to continue forging strong partnerships with founders and help build the next generation of category-defining technology companies.
