Tumbleweed raised €6.9 million in a Seed round led by PactVC. The Vienna-based space technology company helps labs and manufacturers run experiments in microgravity. Vanagon Ventures, Prototype Capital, EWOR, and other investors also participated.
Funding plans
The capital will fund three missions in 2027 carrying more than 10 customers. Those missions are already filling with payloads from medical research, biotech, and agritech. Tumbleweed will also accelerate development of Oasis Beta for 2028.
Company milestones
Tumbleweed was founded in 2024 and now has 25 employees across Vienna and Delft. In July 2026 it launched Austria's first commercial satellite on SpaceX Transporter-17. That mission, Oasis Alpha, carried four customers and was sold out a year before launch.
What customers get
Customers send payloads to Tumbleweed in fault-isolated Pods that handle power, data, and certification. Mission costs start at €15,000, which the company says is 10 times cheaper than International Space Station experiments. From 2028 the Pod itself returns with samples inside.
Tumbleweed is now taking bookings for the 2027 missions and Oasis Beta. Oasis Beta is scheduled for 2028 and will support larger payloads. It will also add re-entry capability to return samples to Earth.
