Quint Computing raised €9.1 million in the largest first round for a German quantum computing company. Vsquared Ventures led the round. The startup builds superconducting quantum chips designed to reduce error correction overhead.

Investors and grant

Other participants included Quantonation, Nucleus Capital, Faber, Vanagon Ventures, and ZOHO.VC. Prof. Mikko Möttönen, founder of IQM and QMill, also participated. Quint separately received a €2.2 million European Innovation Council Pathfinder grant.

Company context

Quint was founded in October 2025 by Prof. Michael Hartmann, Prof. Christopher Eichler, and economist Dr. Jona Stinner. It spun out of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg and is part of the Munich Quantum Valley ecosystem. Its advisory board includes former Infineon CEO Dr. Reinhard Ploss and former Google Quantum AI partnerships lead Dr. Markus Hoffmann.

How the chip works

Quint’s superconducting chip architecture removes a significant share of errors at the hardware level. Once fully implemented, it is expected to reduce complexity, hardware overhead, and energy use by a factor of 100 while maintaining speed. Potential industrial uses include chemicals, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and manufacturing.

Quint currently has 10 employees. The company plans to add about 15 more by the end of 2027. It is working toward a team of 40 to 50 people within two years.
