Spanish healthtech startup Tucuvi has raised $20 million in a Series A funding round, aiming to expand its AI-driven clinical voice platform across Europe and the United States. The company specializes in automating patient interactions via phone, enabling minor clinical decision-making and care coordination. Tucuvi was founded by CEO Maria Gonzalez, whose personal experience with a hospital administration error inspired the company’s mission.

Funding and Investors

The Series A round was led by venture capital firm Cathay Innovation and Madrid-based Kfund through its early-growth fund Leadwind. Existing investors, including Frontline Ventures, Seaya Ventures, and Shilling, also participated in the round. Prior to this, Tucuvi is reported to have raised between $3 million and $3.5 million in earlier funding.

Technology and Platform

Tucuvi has developed what it calls an “AI Care Management platform,” designed to automate and orchestrate high-volume clinical workflows. At the core of the platform are AI agents, including LOLA, a voice AI agent that conducts patient calls, executes care coordination tasks, and escalates issues to human teams when necessary. The platform integrates with health system operations while managing documentation, making it compatible with real-world clinical environments.

Capabilities and Workflows

The platform supports more than 50 distinct workflows, ranging from post-surgical follow-ups and chronic care management to pre-operative assessments, screenings, scheduling, and medication management. Tucuvi emphasizes that its voice AI agents can handle complex patient phone interactions, addressing real-world scenarios with accuracy and reliability. By automating these processes, the platform aims to reduce administrative burden and improve the efficiency of healthcare delivery.

CEO Vision

Maria Gonzalez highlighted the challenges facing modern healthcare, stating that incremental tools are no longer sufficient. She stressed that scalable, trustworthy AI solutions are required to maintain high-quality patient care at volume. Gonzalez added that Tucuvi is proud to serve over 60 healthcare organizations and is expanding rapidly to meet increasing demand.

Operational Reach and Impact

Tucuvi reports that its technology is already in use across more than 60 health systems in Europe and has completed over 300,000 patient calls. The startup plans to use its new funding to accelerate growth and expand its platform into the US market. The company believes that AI-driven automation can improve patient outcomes while alleviating the strain on healthcare providers.

With its latest funding round, Tucuvi is poised to broaden the adoption of AI voice technology in healthcare. By combining advanced automation with clinical oversight, the startup aims to make patient interactions safer, more efficient, and more scalable. As healthcare systems face increasing pressure, Tucuvi’s platform represents a significant step toward integrating trustworthy AI into everyday clinical workflows.
