Japanese recycling startup Tsuginohi opened a resource recycling center in Kitahiroshima, Hokkaido, in August 2026. The site expands its commercial vehicle parts collection network to four logistics locations across Japan. Based in Okayama, the company buys and recycles used vehicle components and recovers valuable metals.

A new collection hub in Hokkaido

The new center collects, stores, and consolidates used parts from commercial vehicles across Hokkaido. It also manages shipments of recycled components and serves as a local sales base. Collected materials are sent to existing recycling and metal recovery facilities, including those in Okayama.

Founder and company expansion

Founder and CEO Seima Kurokawa started the business in July 2018 under the name Item One. The company adopted the name Tsuginohi in August 2025. Its other logistics sites are in Okayama Prefecture, Iruma in Saitama Prefecture, and Nagoya in Aichi Prefecture.

How the recycling works

Tsuginohi handles diesel particulate filters and selective catalytic reduction catalysts used in commercial vehicles. Some parts can be remanufactured and sold again, while others contain recoverable metals, including platinum and palladium. The company's recycling operations also cover hybrid vehicle batteries.

Tsuginohi plans to work with more vehicle maintenance companies and related businesses across Hokkaido. It aims to increase the volume of parts collected and make transportation more efficient. The company also plans to develop additional regional sites as it expands its nationwide recycling network.
