Bathabile Moreki, founder of The Perfume Co Africa (TPC Africa), has launched TPC Africa Mobile in South Africa. The new mobile virtual network operator offers prepaid services through MTN’s network. The service targets consumers and entrepreneurs, combining mobile connectivity with digital payment tools.

Launch details

TPC Africa Mobile uses MTN’s infrastructure rather than building its own cellular network. Customers can access the service through an app available on Apple's App Store and Google Play, with bundles starting at ZAR 1.50. Users switching to the network can retain their existing phone numbers through the standard porting process.

An established entrepreneur network

TPC Africa has a network of more than 300,000 independent business owners across the Southern African Development Community. Moreki clarified that this figure does not represent mobile subscribers or active sales agents. The company also plans to let qualifying entrepreneurs earn commissions from airtime and data sales.

Mobile and payment services

The app offers airtime, mobile data, voice packages, SMS bundles, and combined plans. Its MyWallet features support voucher purchases, selected bill payments, and electricity payments. Customers can also manage linked phone numbers and SIM details through the platform.

The initial rollout is limited to South Africa, with eSIM and postpaid services excluded from the launch offering. The company plans to evaluate customer adoption, repeat usage, and service performance before making further investments. Expansion into other African markets remains a possibility, subject to regulatory requirements, network partnerships, and commercial viability.
