Swarmer has agreed to acquire certain intellectual property from Vataga Drone, a Ukrainian maker of FPV and interceptor drones. The deal will bring Vataga CEO Maksym Melnyk and 14 research and development engineers to Swarmer. Swarmer runs a drone autonomy platform that has supported more than 100,000 combat missions in Ukraine since April 2024.
Transaction details
Swarmer will pay with a combination of cash and equity for the rights. The acquired portfolio includes FPV airframe designs, initiation electronics, ground-control equipment, development tooling, and manufacturing documentation. Vataga will continue to operate as an independent manufacturing company.
Combat-tested hardware
Vataga was founded in 2023 and is headquartered in Kyiv. Its VTG Spark initiation boards have been supplied for use in more than 100,000 Ukrainian drones. Its NATO-codified FPV-10 Peacemaker platform has been fielded with more than 20 Ukrainian military units.
What the deal adds
Melnyk will become vice president of hardware and report to Swarmer President Alex Fink. The new team will combine Vataga's hardware design experience with Swarmer's autonomy software. Swarmer says the group will focus on scaling swarming-enabled FPV drones and interceptors in combat.
The transaction remains subject to closing conditions, and no closing date was announced. After closing, Swarmer plans to add the 15-person team to its hardware operations. The company said the combined group will work on complete drone systems.
