Singtel’s sovereign AI cloud business, RE:AI, has announced a strategic partnership with European AI firm Mistral AI. This collaboration aims to accelerate enterprise AI adoption and enhance Singapore’s capabilities across vital sectors like finance, healthcare, and government. The initiative directly supports Singapore’s National AI Strategy 2.0, reinforcing the nation's ambition to become a prominent global AI hub.

A Strategic Alliance for Sovereign AI

The partnership strategically combines RE:AI’s sovereign cloud infrastructure with Mistral AI’s advanced open-source models and engineering expertise. This synergy is designed to develop tailored AI solutions that address specific industry needs and challenges. The collaboration will focus on creating a secure and scalable environment for organizations to innovate with AI technology.

These new AI solutions will be deployed on Nxera’s upcoming AI-ready data centers located in Singapore, Johor, and Batam. Bill Chang, CEO of Singtel’s Digital InfraCo, highlighted that this provides a secure environment for AI adoption while meeting data governance requirements. This infrastructure is crucial for reinforcing Singapore’s position as a trusted hub for digital growth and innovation.

Arthur Mensch, CEO and co-founder of Mistral AI, expressed that the collaboration will empower enterprises with high-performance and secure AI solutions. He emphasized that the partnership is a key step in accelerating Singapore’s national AI ambitions. The joint effort is expected to deliver tangible returns for industries by fostering practical and scalable AI applications.

Co-Developing Advanced AI Infrastructure

A core component of the agreement involves co-developing advanced AI infrastructure by integrating Mistral AI’s open-source stack with RE:AI’s GPU resources. This will facilitate the delivery of shared AI computing services, including GPU-as-a-Service and AI-as-a-Service. These offerings are specifically designed for secure deployment within essential industries and the public sector.

The partners will also co-develop horizontal solutions that can be applied broadly across different industries. In addition, they will pursue vertical projects through Singtel Group’s operating companies to drive sector-specific automation and analytics. This dual approach ensures both wide applicability and deep specialization in their AI offerings.

Launching an Applied AI Centre of Excellence

To accelerate the adoption of these new technologies, the companies will establish a joint Applied AI Centre of Excellence (CoE). This CoE will function as a central engineering hub, bringing together teams from Singtel, Mistral AI, and ecosystem partners. Its primary mission is to co-create secure and compliant AI environments within Singtel’s robust infrastructure.

The CoE will drive rapid prototyping and deployment of AI solutions, with Singtel Singapore serving as the initial pilot customer. Early use cases will include customer service chatbots, network operations copilots, and AI-assisted tender evaluation tools. The initiative also plans to engage government agencies and other enterprises as early adopters for pilot deployments.

This strategic alliance between Singtel’s RE:AI and Mistral AI marks a significant development for Singapore’s technology landscape. By combining sovereign infrastructure with leading open-source AI, the partnership is poised to unlock new opportunities for innovation across key sectors. It represents a crucial step in advancing the nation’s AI strategy and cementing its role as a leading global AI hub.
