Salesforce announced on September 10, 2026, that it has completed its acquisition of Fin, formerly Intercom, a leading customer agent company. The transaction brings Fin's customer agent platform, its technical AI team, and a global customer base of more than 30,000 companies into the Salesforce ecosystem. The acquisition is intended to give organizations faster and more flexible ways to automate customer service and deliver measurable results.

A Strategic Expansion in Customer Service AI

Fin's proprietary AI models are trained specifically for customer experience and resolve complex queries end to end across live chat, email, WhatsApp, SMS, voice, and Slack. The platform maintains an industry-leading average resolution rate of 76 percent. Salesforce stated that this capability will complement the Agentforce platform and broaden the company's customer service AI portfolio.

How Fin's Customer Agent Technology Works

Fin's AI customer agent is designed to handle complex customer queries from start to finish across multiple channels. The agent operates in live chat, email, WhatsApp, SMS, voice, and Slack, giving businesses a unified automation tool for common service needs. Its proprietary model suite was developed specifically for customer experience, which Salesforce says supports high performance and trusted interactions.

Salesforce Leadership Highlights the Combined Value

Marc Benioff, Chair and CEO of Salesforce, described the acquisition as the number one customer agent meeting the number one CRM. He said the future of customer service is autonomous, intelligent, and built on trust. Benioff added that Fin brings proven agent technology and an extraordinary AI team to Salesforce, making Agentforce even more powerful for customer service.

Fin Co-Founder Points to Expanded Reach

Eoghan McCabe, CEO and Co-Founder of Fin, said there is no technology quite like Fin in the customer space. He noted that the strategic benefit of joining Salesforce is the ability to bring the technology to many more businesses and their customers. McCabe added that everyone wins when businesses can perfectly serve their customers.

Expanding Customer Choice and Deployment Speed

Fin's fast-to-deploy AI agent works seamlessly with the help desks and systems companies already use across the customer experience. Alongside the deeply customizable Agentforce platform, Fin gives organizations more choice in how they adopt autonomous service. This ranges from rapid deployment on existing systems to deeply tailored and enterprise-scale transformation.

A Global Customer Base and Proven Performance

The acquisition brings an established global customer base of more than 30,000 companies into Salesforce. Fin's average resolution rate of 76 percent reflects its ability to manage complex queries across channels at scale. This track record is a key part of what Salesforce describes as a powerful addition to Agentforce for customer service.

Continued Innovation Under Salesforce AI Labs

As part of Salesforce AI Labs, Fin will continue to serve its existing customers while advancing its AI agent capabilities. The team will also build market-defining AI models and technology within Salesforce. This arrangement is designed to support existing Fin customers while enabling new innovation for the broader Salesforce ecosystem.

The completion of the Fin acquisition positions Salesforce to offer a broader range of customer service AI options, from rapid deployment to deep enterprise customization. Companies are expected to benefit from faster time to value and trusted AI agents that can perform across channels at scale. Salesforce and Fin leaders both expressed confidence that the combined organization will deliver measurable outcomes for customers worldwide.
