Pipedrive, a leading customer relationship management (CRM) platform for small and medium-sized businesses, has announced its acquisition of Outfunnel. The move brings the top-rated sales and marketing automation app from its marketplace directly into its core product. This strategic integration aims to eliminate the need for separate tools, providing users with a unified system for sales and marketing activities.

Bridging the Sales and Marketing Divide

Many growing businesses struggle with disconnected data between their sales and marketing departments, creating information silos. Sales teams typically rely on the CRM, while marketing teams use separate platforms, resulting in an incomplete picture of the customer journey. Pipedrive's acquisition directly addresses this challenge by creating a single source of truth for both teams.

Outfunnel had already established itself as a powerful solution for this very problem, serving over 500 businesses. The application specialized in synchronizing customer data between Pipedrive and popular marketing tools like Mailchimp and Klaviyo. Its success and popularity were demonstrated by its status as the highest-rated application on the Pipedrive Marketplace.

A Strategic Integration for Seamless Operations

According to Pipedrive CEO Paulo Cunha, a CRM that fails to connect with marketing tools only solves half the problem. He explained that while Outfunnel had solved the difficult task of real-time data synchronization, it remained a separate add-on. By bringing this technology in-house, Pipedrive removes the burden of managing an extra tool for its customers.

The company has outlined a clear path forward for integrating the new capabilities and supporting existing users. Outfunnel will continue to operate without disruption during a transitional period to ensure a smooth experience for its current customers. Pipedrive plans to rebuild the platform’s core functionalities natively into its own system over the next several months.

A Homecoming for Outfunnel's Co-Founder

The acquisition also signifies a notable return for Andrus Purde, co-founder of Outfunnel, to the Pipedrive family. Purde, who previously served as Pipedrive's Head of Marketing during its formative years, will rejoin the company as a consultant. This move is deepened by a family connection, as his brother, Urmas Purde, was one of Pipedrive's original five founders.

Andrus Purde commented on the unique nature of his return, noting his long-standing frustration with disconnected sales and marketing workflows. He expressed excitement about the opportunity to solve this problem on a larger scale by joining forces with Pipedrive. In addition to Purde, Outfunnel’s four team members will also transition to become full-time employees at Pipedrive.

Pipedrive's acquisition of Outfunnel marks a significant step toward providing a more integrated and efficient platform for small businesses. By embedding crucial marketing automation and data synchronization capabilities, the company strengthens its value proposition and simplifies its users' technology stack. This strategic move is poised to deliver a more cohesive experience, empowering sales and marketing teams to work together seamlessly.
