Athena raised $2.5 million in Pre-Seed funding led by a16z Speedrun. The San Francisco startup brings AI-native legal services to commercial real estate investors. Its affiliated law firm handles acquisitions, sales, and financing work.

Funding and pricing

Athena Circle charges a fixed fee per transaction. Fees typically run 30% to 50% below recent client costs. The faster Athena works, the stronger the economics for the firm and its clients.

How it works

Clients send documents and receive legal work like a traditional firm. Athena's proprietary AI agents review agreements, spot inconsistencies, and draft redlines. Experienced attorneys approve all work before it reaches clients.

Early traction

Athena launched publicly in August and has 22 clients. In its first six weeks, attorney review time fell by more than 70%. One purchase agreement was turned around in under 48 hours.

The company plans to expand across property types, geographies, and other transactional law areas. It aims to make legal work faster and more affordable. The new capital will support that broader push.
