Nigerian fintech leader Piggyvest has secured a spot on CNBC’s prestigious ‘World’s Top Fintech Companies 2026’ list for the third consecutive year. The platform stands out as the sole African company recognized within the Wealth Technology category, a significant achievement on the global stage. This consistent recognition underscores the company's sustained growth and impact in making wealth management accessible to millions.

A Rigorous Global Benchmark

The annual list, a collaboration between CNBC and market research firm Statista, represents a comprehensive industry benchmark. This year, the selection process was particularly stringent, with over 3,500 companies and 25,000 data points analyzed to identify the top 500 firms. Piggyvest's inclusion for a third time highlights its consistent performance and adherence to the highest global standards.

Out of the seven Nigerian companies that made the 2026 list, Piggyvest is the only one featured in the Wealth Technology segment. This category, comprising 75 companies worldwide, focuses on digital trading, investment, and portfolio management tools. The distinction places Piggyvest in a unique position within the African financial technology landscape.

Competing on the World Stage

Piggyvest is listed alongside international industry giants such as Robinhood, Wealthsimple, and Tiger Brokers. This placement validates the company's model, which addresses the specific financial needs of an African market often overlooked by global players. It demonstrates that solutions built for African users can compete effectively with the best in the world.

Co-founder and CEO Somto Ifezue stated that this recognition reinforces the company's long-held belief in its products. "Sitting alongside some of the world’s leading wealth technology companies reinforces something we have always believed: products built for African users can meet the highest global standards," he said. This achievement challenges outdated perceptions about the sophistication of African fintech solutions.

A Decade of Building Trust

This accolade arrives shortly after Piggyvest celebrated its tenth anniversary in April 2026, marking a decade of operations. Since its inception, the platform has grown to serve over six million users, helping them save and invest trillions of naira. The company's journey began with a simple idea inspired by traditional savings methods.

Co-founder and COO Odun Eweniyi emphasized that the award is a testament to user confidence. "Being recognised for the third consecutive year means a great deal to us because it is built on the trust millions of people have placed in Piggyvest over the last decade," she remarked. This trust has been foundational to the platform's success and its ability to scale.

A Vision for Future Growth

Looking ahead, Piggyvest remains committed to its core mission of simplifying personal finance for its user base. The company plans to continue expanding its suite of products designed for accessible wealth-building. This focus ensures that the platform evolves to meet the changing needs of its customers.

Chief Marketing Officer and Co-founder Joshua Chibueze affirmed this forward-looking strategy. "We will continue listening closely to our users and building products that make saving, investing, and managing wealth even simpler for millions," he explained. This user-centric approach will guide the company's innovation in the coming years.

Piggyvest's repeated inclusion on CNBC's global list is more than just an award; it is a powerful statement about the company's resilience and innovation. It serves as a significant milestone for the firm and a source of inspiration for the entire African technology ecosystem. As Piggyvest enters its next decade, its continued success signals a bright future for user-focused financial technology on the continent.
