Singapore-based Hello Ello has launched ELLO, an AI-powered caregiving solution designed to support families looking after ageing parents. The system combines a smart camera with an intuitive app to detect critical events and provide reassurance to adult children. This launch addresses the escalating caregiving demands in Singapore and Malaysia, offering a new approach to home monitoring.

Addressing a Growing Caregiving Need

Singapore and Malaysia are experiencing a significant demographic shift, leading to a growing caregiving challenge for many families. Adult children, often part of the "sandwich generation," find themselves balancing careers and their own families with the responsibility of caring for elderly parents. This solution is tailored for these caregivers who need a reliable way to check in without being intrusive.

Intelligent Monitoring Beyond Security

Unlike traditional security cameras that require users to sift through hours of footage, ELLO is designed to be a proactive caregiver's assistant. The system's AI learns the daily routines of the elderly person and identifies unusual activity, sending alerts only when something seems wrong. It can detect critical events such as falls, fainting, wandering, and signs of distress, notifying caregivers within 60 seconds.

The system is powered by the Vision One camera, which offers 3K clarity, a 135-degree wide-angle view, night vision, and two-way communication. Its technology is built to distinguish between simple motion and meaningful events, providing context-aware alerts that reduce false alarms. This ensures that caregivers receive notifications that are both timely and relevant to their loved one's well-being.

Designed for Dignity and Ease of Use

ELLO operates discreetly in the background, removing the burden on seniors who might forget to wear or charge a device. It requires no wearable bracelet, button, or watch, ensuring continuous monitoring without active participation from the elderly individual. Caregivers can also use the "Ask ELLO" conversational AI to ask simple questions like "Where's Dad?" for quick updates.

Privacy and dignity are fundamental to the ELLO experience, with the company emphasizing that care should not feel like surveillance. Access to alerts and summaries is restricted to invited family members, and users can choose between local or cloud storage. Hello Ello has also committed to not selling user data or using it to train external AI models.

Market Availability and Vision

The Vision One camera is available for SGD$89, complemented by the ELLO Family plan at S$29.90 per month with no lock-in contract. This subscription includes fall detection, wandering alerts, daily summaries, family sharing, and support for up to three cameras. The company aims to make this advanced care technology accessible to families navigating the complexities of eldercare.

Founder Ivan Mun stated that most families need a solution that understands when something is wrong and communicates it clearly. He emphasized that the goal is not constant surveillance but enabling families to know when to intervene. This approach allows ageing parents to maintain their independence and dignity while living at home.

The launch of ELLO by Hello Ello marks a significant step forward in leveraging AI for compassionate home-based eldercare. By focusing on proactive alerts, user privacy, and ease of use, the solution provides a valuable tool for the growing number of caregivers in the region. It represents a thoughtful integration of technology designed to enhance family connection and provide peace of mind.
