GeneSeeker Expands OncoDeepScan Testing to 88 Medical Institutions

CRISPR-based cancer detection test reaches hospitals and clinics nationwide, including Jeju

GeneSeeker has expanded the availability of its OncoDeepScan cancer detection test to 88 medical institutions across South Korea, marking a significant increase in adoption over the past year. The company said the number of participating institutions has grown approximately fivefold, extending access from major university hospital health promotion centers to general hospitals and local clinics. The testing network now covers Seoul and the surrounding metropolitan area as well as Gangwon, Chungcheong, Jeolla, Gyeongsang, and Jeju.


Nationwide Expansion of OncoDeepScan

OncoDeepScan was initially introduced primarily through medical institutions in Seoul and nearby areas but has progressively expanded into additional regions nationwide. The test is now offered through university hospital health promotion centers, including Korea University Anam Hospital, Korea University Guro Hospital, Kangdong Kyung Hee University Hospital, Chung-Ang University Hospital, and Hanyang University International Hospital. GeneSeeker has also extended availability to institutions in locations including Hoengseong, Daejeon, Sejong, Cheonan, Mokpo, Busan, and other parts of Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk.

Blood-Based Cancer Risk Analysis

OncoDeepScan is a blood-based test designed to analyze circulating tumor DNA, or ctDNA, and identify genetic signals associated with multiple types of cancer. Using a single 10-milliliter blood sample, the test analyzes signals related to nine cancer types in men and 11 types in women, with ovarian and cervical cancers included in the female panel. GeneSeeker positions the test as a complementary option alongside established cancer screening procedures rather than as a replacement for imaging, endoscopy, or national screening programs.

Proprietary CRISPR Technology

The test is built around MUTE-Seq, GeneSeeker's proprietary analytical technology that incorporates high-precision CRISPR gene editing to improve the detection of low-frequency cancer-associated genetic mutations. The platform uses the company's FnCas9-AF2 gene-editing tool to selectively remove a large proportion of normal DNA from blood samples, allowing relatively small amounts of mutated DNA to become more detectable during analysis. GeneSeeker says this approach is intended to increase the sensitivity of liquid biopsy analysis when cancer-related genetic material is present at very low concentrations.

Research and Intellectual Property

Research involving MUTE-Seq was published in the international journal Advanced Materials in 2025 and was also presented at the American Association for Cancer Research Annual Meeting that year. According to GeneSeeker, the company has secured patents related to mutant cell-free DNA isolation technology across several major markets, including South Korea, the United States, Europe, Japan, and China. The company is also conducting clinical research with domestic and international medical institutions to broaden applications of its liquid biopsy technologies.

Expanding GeneSeeker's Liquid Biopsy Platform

Founded in 2017, GeneSeeker develops cancer genomics technologies centered on CRISPR-enabled liquid biopsy and operates under co-CEOs Ye Seong-hyeok and Heo Jun-seok. Its research and commercial activities focus on areas including multi-cancer early detection, minimal residual disease monitoring, and treatment monitoring, while its product portfolio also includes OncoDeepTrace for recurrent cancer and residual disease assessment. The company plans to use increasing volumes of real-world testing data from participating medical institutions to further evaluate and refine its technology.


GeneSeeker's expansion to 88 medical institutions represents a broader move from research and development toward wider clinical availability for its CRISPR-based liquid biopsy platform. The company intends to continue expanding access to OncoDeepScan while accumulating clinical data that could support improvements in the reliability and application of its testing technology. As adoption grows, GeneSeeker aims to establish the test as an additional cancer risk assessment tool used alongside conventional health screenings and tailored to factors such as age, family history, and lifestyle.
