Egypt's Ministry of Youth and Sports, Japan's government, and the United Nations Development Programme signed a joint green entrepreneurship project. The initiative targets 1,200 young Egyptians and will support 100 youth-led green startups. Minister Gohar Nabil attended the signing ceremony.

Signing details

Ambassador Mokhtar Wareda, Yasuhiro Tsukamoto, and Chitose Noguchi joined the ceremony. The project is titled Empowering Youth for Green Transformation in Egypt. It extends existing cooperation among Egypt, Japan, and the UNDP on youth and sustainable development.

Program goals

The program includes awareness activities and idea generation for young men and women. It offers an integrated incubation track with practical training, specialized mentorship, and technical support. Participants will work on turning environmental ideas into workable and growing business models.

Economic and climate impact

The effort aims to help startups develop solutions to environmental challenges. It also targets sustainable livelihoods and new job creation. Partners will draw on Japanese experience in innovation and entrepreneurship.

The ministry plans to use youth centers and sports facilities across governorates as support platforms. Success will be measured by young founders reaching early customers, bringing products to market, or creating new jobs. The partners also aim to strengthen community resilience against climate change effects.
