Firehawk Defense closed an oversubscribed Series D round with more than US$150 million raised at a valuation over US$1.4 billion. Advent and Rochefort Asset Management led the round. The Dallas-based company develops advanced energetics and propulsion systems for defense customers.

Use of funds

The new capital will support Firehawk’s production facility in Lawton, Oklahoma and its missile integration site in Crawford, Mississippi. It will also help scale output of artillery motors, solid rocket motors, energetics, and propellant. The company plans to add research and development sites and expand headcount.

Recent partnerships and tests

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems signed a teaming agreement with Firehawk in May 2026. The partners are pairing Firehawk’s thermoplastic propellant and compression-molding technology with GD-OTS’s metal-parts production and munitions integration. In August 2026, Firehawk live-fired Hydra-70 rockets built in Crawford, Mississippi with a 100% success rate.

Thermoplastic manufacturing

Firehawk’s propellant process replaces traditional batch mixing, casting, and curing. The thermoplastic method produces energetic feedstock in hours instead of weeks. The material can be stored or formed through compression molding, extrusion, or 3D printing.

By the end of 2027, Firehawk expects to be the largest U.S. producer of artillery motors. It also expects to rank third in propellant production. The company operates a 320-acre propellant and motor production site in Lawton, Oklahoma.
