London-based fintech Zeom has officially commenced its operations in Brazil, introducing a novel "global banking" platform. Founded by Brazilian veterans from the fintech sector, the company aims to redefine international finance for a new generation of global citizens. The launch is supported by a recent R$ 15 million pre-seed funding round, signaling strong investor confidence in its innovative approach to cross-border transactions and investments.

A New Era of Global Finance

Zeom's platform leverages blockchain and native artificial intelligence to offer users a seamless financial experience. It enables real-time currency conversions, access to international assets, and card payments, effectively functioning as a "Global Pix". This technology allows for instant transactions, converting Brazilian Reais into globally transferable assets without the delays common in traditional banking systems.

The founders position Zeom as a technological leap forward, similar to how Nubank disrupted the banking industry a decade ago. They argue that competitors like Wise and Nomad were built in a pre-AI and pre-blockchain era, giving Zeom a distinct advantage. By building on a decentralized infrastructure, the company bypasses the complex, layered, and outdated systems that hinder legacy financial institutions.

Strategic Vision and Market Focus

The company is initially targeting a specific demographic it calls the "globalized citizen." This includes professionals in the creator economy and freelancers who earn in foreign currencies and have a monthly income exceeding R$ 20,000. With a low minimum investment of just R$ 50, Zeom aims to democratize access to global financial tools previously limited to high-net-worth individuals.

Zeom has set ambitious goals for its initial growth phase in Brazil, aiming to attract 50,000 clients by the end of 2026. The company projects that this user base could translate into approximately US$ 50 million in assets under management. This target marks the first cycle of a long-term strategy to establish a significant footprint in the national market before expanding further.

Addressing Emerging Market Needs

Brazil serves as the strategic launchpad for Zeom, but its vision extends to other emerging economies facing similar challenges. The founders highlight that issues like political and economic volatility, coupled with wealth erosion from inflation, are common across these regions. Zeom's platform is designed to provide a stable and accessible alternative for wealth preservation and growth for these populations.

Following its establishment in Brazil, the fintech plans a phased international expansion. The next steps involve launching in other Latin American countries before moving into markets in Southeast Asia and Africa. This global roadmap underscores the scalability of Zeom's model, which is not limited by national borders and is tailored to the shared financial needs of developing nations.

Financial Backing and Future Prospects

The company's ambitious plans are backed by a successful R$ 15 million pre-seed funding round secured before its official launch. The investment was led by UK-based Fabric Ventures, a global manager specializing in Web3, with significant participation from Spain's Tritemius and Silicon Valley's Plug and Play. This financial support validates Zeom's technology-first approach and provides the capital needed for its initial expansion.

While the current funding provides a solid runway, Zeom's leadership anticipates returning to the market for another round within the next year. Co-founder Rafael Pereira noted that if the company's growth milestones are met ahead of schedule, a new funding cycle could happen sooner. There is already reported interest from other international funds, indicating a promising future for the burgeoning fintech.

Zeom's arrival in Brazil marks a significant development in the country's competitive fintech landscape, introducing a powerful blend of blockchain and AI to global banking. With a clear strategy, a well-defined target audience, and substantial financial backing, the company is poised to challenge established players. Its focus on solving the unique financial hurdles of emerging markets positions it for potentially rapid growth both locally and internationally.
