Estonia’s startup ecosystem continued to attract substantial investment in 2026, reflecting sustained investor interest in the country’s technology sector. Research conducted as of August 13, 2026, identified major funding activity across energy, defense, artificial intelligence, logistics, robotics, consumer technology, and medical innovation.

The largest rounds reflected growing investor interest in capital-intensive technologies with international applications. Skeleton Technologies and Frankenburg Technologies led the period’s funding activity, while SkySelect, Farsight Vision, Handhold, Spiral Hydrogen, Rollo Robotics, Pickmybrain, Nanordica Medical, and Validfor also secured capital to advance their products and expansion plans.

This article examines the ten largest publicly announced funding rounds involving startups headquartered in Estonia or closely connected to its startup ecosystem between January 1 and August 13, 2026. It highlights the companies, financing stages, announced amounts, and sectors shaping Estonia’s startup investment landscape.

Methodology

For this research, we tracked the ten largest startup funding announcements associated with Estonia’s startup ecosystem between January 1 and August 13, 2026. Companies were included when Estonia represented their primary startup ecosystem, even if their current headquarters were located in another country. Only rounds first publicly announced during the research period were considered.

The ranking covers disclosed startup financing transactions, including equity rounds and funding packages combining private investment with grant support. Information on funding amounts, announcement dates, stages, sectors, and each company’s connection to Estonia was compiled from publicly available company statements, investor announcements, official ecosystem sources, and credible media reports.

Several announcements were not included in the ranking. Soldera’s €1.6 million announcement was excluded because it represented standalone non-dilutive public support rather than a startup financing round. Rounds with undisclosed amounts were considered but could not be ranked, while publicly disclosed rounds below Validfor’s $1.2 million cutoff did not enter the top ten.

Rounds were ranked by their value in U.S. dollars. When an amount was announced in euros, both the original euro figure and its U.S. dollar equivalent are shown, using the exchange rate on the announcement date. When an amount was reported only in U.S. dollars, only that figure is shown, with no estimate in another currency.

Estonia’s Ten Largest Startup Funding Rounds

Skeleton Technologies

Amount: ~$38.8 million (€33 million) | Stage: Pre-IPO | Sector: Energy & Grid

Skeleton Technologies opened a larger pre-IPO financing with an initial €33 million close, bringing Axon Partners Group, SmartCap, and Taiwania Capital into its investor base. The energy-storage company plans to meet rising demand for high-power systems serving AI data centers, expand production toward the United States, and prepare for a planned US public listing in 2027.

Frankenburg Technologies

Amount: ~$35.3 million (€30 million) | Stage: Series A | Sector: Defense, Security & Public Safety

Frankenburg Technologies’ Series A backs an industrial expansion rather than a conventional product rollout. Led by Plural with SmartCap participating, the financing will support two EU mass-production sites, secure critical components, and expand operations in Germany and the United Kingdom. The Tallinn defense startup is developing lower-cost missile systems designed for rapid, sovereign manufacturing across Europe.

SkySelect

Amount: $9 million | Stage: Undisclosed | Sector: Logistics & Supply Chain

SkySelect secured US$9 million in funding co-led by Verb Ventures and RockCreek, with participation from SmartCap Green Fund and existing investors Bain Capital Ventures and Lux Capital. Its AI-powered procurement platform connects airlines and maintenance providers with thousands of aircraft-parts suppliers, automating sourcing and ordering. The company says it has processed more than US$6 billion in transactions.

Farsight Vision

Amount: ~$8.6 million (€7.2 million) | Stage: Seed | Sector: Defense, Security & Public Safety

Farsight Vision brings battlefield-tested Ukrainian technology into Estonia’s funding picture. Axon Enterprise and SmartCap led the seed round for its geospatial intelligence system, which combines live operational data with 3D contextual awareness and AI scenario planning. The capital will advance robotic-system automation, integrations with UAV and UGV manufacturers, electronic-warfare capabilities, and international defense partnerships.

Rollo Robotics

Amount: ~$4.3 million (€3.7 million) | Stage: Pre-seed | Sector: Robotics & Automation

Emerging from stealth, Rollo Robotics secured backing from FoodLabs and PROTOTYPE, with additional support from Enterprise Estonia’s RUP program. The company is developing a gyroscopically stabilized, autonomous monowheel robot for security patrols in confined or complex environments. Funding will harden the platform for extreme weather and heavy traffic while preparing components and supply chains for production.

Handhold

Amount: ~$3.5 million (€3 million) | Stage: Seed | Sector: Sales & Marketing

Handhold is targeting a costly gap between product-led software sales and human account management. Its AI agents can qualify prospects, run tailored demos, support onboarding, and preserve context throughout the customer journey. Led by Entourage Capital, with Inovia Capital, e2vc, and prominent Estonian tech operators participating, the seed round will accelerate go-to-market execution and product expansion.

Spiral Hydrogen

Amount: ~$3.2 million (€2.7 million) | Stage: Pre-seed | Sector: Energy & Grid

Spiral Hydrogen’s financing combines venture backing from byFounders, Norrsken Evolve, and Superangel with €700,000 in grants. The startup will move its bubble-free electrolyzer from the laboratory into a pilot at Rotterdam’s port, working with SwitcH2. By preventing gas bubbles from blocking electrode surfaces, the company aims to improve electrolyzer efficiency and lower the cost of green hydrogen.

Pickmybrain

Amount: $2.1 million | Stage: Pre-seed | Sector: Consumer Apps & Services

Pickmybrain is building a marketplace where professionals can convert their knowledge into AI-powered “Digital Brains.” The system answers routine questions using material approved by each expert, while routing more personal or valuable requests to the individual through asynchronous video. Backed by angel investors and Raison.app, the company will expand its team, product, and international reach.

Nanordica Medical

Amount: ~$1.8 million (€1.6 million) | Stage: Undisclosed | Sector: MedTech

Nanordica Medical will use its equity financing to move Premotiv, an antibacterial wound dressing, closer to European commercialization. Led by 2C Ventures, the round supports completion of a multicenter diabetic-foot-ulcer study, the health-economic case for reimbursement, and CE marking. In an earlier 30-patient randomized trial, Premotiv reduced wound area by 43% after one week, compared with 13% for standard silver dressings.

Validfor

Amount: $1.2 million | Stage: Pre-seed | Sector: LegalTech, RegTech & Compliance

Validfor is applying agentic AI to one of life sciences’ most document-heavy functions: GxP validation. Its platform structures regulatory records, automates validation workflows, and keeps human oversight for critical decisions. Led by DOMiNO Ventures with Curiosity VC and angel investors, the pre-seed financing will expand engineering, accelerate product development, and add autonomous testing capabilities.

The rounds above show a concentrated but diverse funding landscape. The four largest deals accounted for approximately 85% of the combined disclosed value, while the remaining rounds ranged from about $1.2 million to $4.3 million. Energy and defense attracted the largest investments, but the list also covered logistics, robotics, sales technology, consumer applications, medtech, and regulatory compliance.

Global and regional investors participated across several rounds, reflecting Estonia’s continued ability to attract cross-border capital. However, the market remained selective, with most of the disclosed value concentrated in a small number of capital-intensive companies. Six of the ten transactions were seed or pre-seed rounds, indicating that early-stage financing remained active even as larger funding rounds were comparatively limited.
