Canada’s startup ecosystem attracted major financing announcements across AI semiconductors, autonomous mobility, enterprise software, fintech, quantum technology, and biotechnology in 2026. Startup Researcher identified the ten largest reported funding events involving companies associated with Canada’s startup ecosystem between January 1 and November 3, 2026, representing approximately US$4.0 billion in announced financing packages. Tenstorrent and Waabi led the ranking with a combined US$2.5 billion, including a milestone-dependent component of Waabi’s financing.

Methodology
This ranking covers financing events first publicly announced between January 1 and November 3, 2026, involving independently founded, innovation-driven private startups primarily associated with Canada’s startup ecosystem. Canadian-founded companies headquartered abroad remain eligible when their founding ties and substantive Canadian operations support that association. The ten entries are ranked by their US-dollar values, with original currencies retained where reported.
Qualifying events include venture funding rounds, growth-equity investments, and financing packages that combine primary startup investment with credit facilities or secondary components. When a financing package includes several components, the announced total is used for ranking, with contingent or milestone-linked investment distinguished from capital already secured. Standalone debt facilities, standalone grants, secondary-only transactions, acquisitions, public offerings, and events without a disclosed financing amount are excluded.
Events are dated to their earliest verifiable public disclosure, and multiple closings of the same funding round are counted once using the final cumulative amount announced during the review period. Conventional funding stages are used where supported by credible sources; otherwise, the stage is listed as Undisclosed. Cohere’s reported C$677.2 million SAFE financing was excluded because independent confirmation of the transaction was unavailable, while its subsequent Series E did not disclose the amount raised at its initial close.
