Edge Growth has backed uNotho Holdings with ZAR 3.5 million in growth debt financing. uNotho is a 100% black woman-owned mining services company. The funding came from the Ignite Fund, which is supported by Seriti Holdings.

Funding and transaction details

uNotho will use the debt to supply and deliver two waste trucks for Seriti Power. The Ignite Fund was established in 2023 and provides early-stage capital and developmental support to SMEs outside traditional funding brackets. Edge Growth said the deal required co-funding with other lenders because of the fund's mandate limit.

Company background

uNotho was founded in 2018 and is headquartered in Mpumalanga. It provides waste management, bulk hauling, commodity transportation, and machinery rental services to construction, mining, and industrial clients. Founder and managing director Makhosi Khoza is a chemist with more than a decade of mining experience.

What the funding supports

The financing strengthens uNotho's operational capacity and supports growth in the mining sector. It will also create additional employment opportunities. The company will deliver essential waste management and logistics services through the new trucks.

uNotho plans to continue offering plant and truck hire services to mining customers. The company is focused on operational excellence, innovation, and environmental responsibility. It also aims to build lasting client partnerships and support local communities.
