Privacy-focused AI assistant Ollie will shut down on November 6. CEO Bill Lennon announced the decision on X. The startup said it could not keep up as competition from Muse, Instinct, and others increased.
Funding history
Ollie had previously disclosed a $7.5 million Seed round led by Khosla Ventures. It discussed the round with TechCrunch in September. The company sold the assistant through a subscription model.
Privacy compliance
Ollie was one of the first mainstream apps to achieve SOC 2 compliance. The standard is attained through an independent audit. Ollie described privacy as a central focus of the assistant.
What the app did
The app connected to a user's email and calendar. It offered tools for appointment bookings, meal planning, and bill payments. The company also planned to enter household budgeting.
The announcement was made on Friday, October 30. Customers will receive instructions on how to export data and receive refunds in the coming days. Lennon also plans to share more lessons in the coming weeks.
