DigitalPaani, a water technology startup using artificial intelligence and Internet of Things systems to improve water and wastewater operations, has raised ₹22 crore, approximately $2.3 million, in fresh funding led by Navam Capital. The round also included participation from Enzia Ventures, Chakra Growth Capital, 3one4 Capital, Momentum Capital, Achieving Women Entrepreneurs Early Growth Fund, and Echo River Capital. The company did not disclose the stage of the financing or its valuation.
Funding to Support Expansion
The Delhi NCR-based company plans to use the new capital to expand across industrial and municipal markets while increasing its capacity to serve larger numbers of institutional customers. DigitalPaani also intends to pursue international expansion as demand grows for technology that can improve the efficiency and reliability of water infrastructure. Part of the funding will be directed toward strengthening the company's core operations as it scales.
Building Smarter Water Infrastructure
Founded in 2020 by father-daughter team Rajesh Jain and Mansi Jain, DigitalPaani has developed an AI- and IoT-powered software platform designed to help businesses, utilities, and municipalities manage water and wastewater assets. The platform collects real-time operational data and compares equipment performance with the parameters facilities were originally designed to meet. It then identifies potential causes of inefficiency and provides tools to improve operational decision-making.
DigitalPaani's software can automate and coordinate processes including equipment management, maintenance scheduling, inventory tracking, and communication between service teams. The technology also provides real-time water monitoring, predictive maintenance capabilities, and workflow management tools intended to reduce disruptions and improve wastewater recycling. Its primary users include sewage treatment plants and other facilities where operational problems can significantly limit treatment capacity.
Growing Commercial Footprint
DigitalPaani currently says its technology is deployed across more than 95 water facilities in India that collectively treat over 150 million liters of water each day. Customers include organizations such as Britannia, Leela Hotels, Tata Group, and Delhi Jal Board, reflecting the platform's use across both private-sector and public infrastructure environments. The company is seeking to expand this footprint as industrial operators and municipalities invest more heavily in efficient water management.
According to DigitalPaani, deployments of its platform have helped previously non-compliant facilities become fully operational while reducing operating costs by as much as 25%. The startup also says its revenue has increased nearly sixfold over the past two years, although it has not disclosed specific financial figures. DigitalPaani was recently recognized by UpLink, the World Economic Forum's innovation platform, for its work in water management technology.
Addressing Operational Challenges
The company argues that one of India's largest water infrastructure challenges is not simply the availability of treatment equipment but the efficiency with which existing assets are operated. DigitalPaani estimates that roughly 75% of critical water assets in India, including sewage treatment plants, operate substantially below their potential because of operational issues rather than equipment failure. Its technology is designed to address these problems through continuous monitoring, automated workflows, and earlier identification of maintenance requirements.
Demand for such systems is increasing as cities and industrial companies face water shortages, tighter environmental requirements, and greater pressure to recycle wastewater. These factors are contributing to investment in technologies capable of improving treatment efficiency without necessarily requiring complete replacement of existing infrastructure. According to IMARC Group figures cited in connection with the market, India's wastewater treatment sector was valued at $10.4 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $19.4 billion by 2034.
DigitalPaani's latest financing gives the company additional resources to expand its presence in India while pursuing customers in international markets. By combining AI, IoT monitoring, and operational management software, the startup is positioning its platform as a way to improve the performance of existing water and wastewater infrastructure. The funding will support its next stage of growth as water scarcity, regulation, and recycling requirements increase the need for more efficient treatment systems.
