Mumbai-based education startup Imarticus Learning plans to file draft public offering documents with SEBI through the confidential route within two to three months. The company is targeting a ₹1,000 crore initial public offering, according to Inc42 sources. That marks an increase from an earlier plan of ₹750 crore.
Use of IPO proceeds
The company plans to use the proceeds to expand its business and pursue acquisitions. Organic expansion may include new Centers of Excellence and more programs at the Imarticus School of Finance and Business. It also plans to strengthen its business-to-business operations.
Company background
Imarticus was founded in 2012 by Nikhil Barshikar and Sonya Hooja. It offers professional education and upskilling programs in finance, banking, analytics, technology, marketing, and management. The company serves students and working professionals through direct-to-consumer courses and enterprise training.
Recent acquisitions
The filing follows the company's ₹800 crore acquisition of BELLS Institute of Higher Learning in Singapore. The deal aims to expand its presence in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Imarticus also acquired edtech platform MyCaptain last year in a ₹50 crore cash-and-stock deal.
Imarticus plans to launch the BELLS School of AI. The school will offer courses in machine learning, AI applications in finance and fintech, and business transformation. The company opened a Center of Excellence for the Indian capital market in August.
