The medtech startup CHD has raised CHF 150,000 from Venture Kick as part of its Seed round. CHD develops remote monitoring tools for maternal and fetal care. The company aims to help healthcare professionals monitor high-risk pregnancies outside hospitals.
Funding and timelines
The funding will support development, testing, and validation of functional prototypes by the second quarter of 2027. CHD plans to release a consumer version of MONI2 at the beginning of 2028. A medical version with FDA clearance is planned for the end of 2029.
Company context
More than 140 million babies are born worldwide each year. Around 15% of pregnancies are high risk and need regular monitoring. Frequent hospital visits place a burden on expectant mothers and healthcare providers.
How MONI2 works
MONI2 uses a washable smart textile belt to collect maternal and fetal ECG, uterine contractions, fetal movements, and position. Pregnant women can view basic indicators in a smartphone app. Healthcare professionals receive raw data and predictive indicators through a secure web portal.
CHD expects to close its Seed round by October. Other private investors and a foundation have already committed or plan to do so. The company is targeting more than 30,000 kits and subscriptions sold within four years.
