Deepgram is acquiring Daily, the company behind the Pipecat open-source voice agent framework. Pipecat is widely used to orchestrate production voice AI systems. The deal adds Daily's global real-time network of 75 points of presence to Deepgram.

Open source commitment

Pipecat will remain open source under its existing BSD V2 license. Deepgram and contributing organizations are establishing an independent Pipecat Foundation. The Daily team will join Deepgram, and co-founder Kwindla Hultman Kramer will become Head of Open Source.

Company reach

Deepgram builds speech models and real-time infrastructure for conversational voice AI. More than 5,000 organizations use its tools in production. The company has also served more than 650,000 developers and processed over 200,000 years of audio.

Real-Time Context Standard

Deepgram also introduced the Real-Time Context Standard, an open protocol developed with the Pipecat team. It carries audio context such as tone, speaker identity, and background sounds through a conversation. Adapters translate those signals into instructions for different model providers.

Deepgram plans to preview its Voice Agent Platform during the Speak event. The platform will combine Deepgram's models with Pipecat's open infrastructure. The company also plans to introduce two new live-conversation models, expanded language support, and a Global API.
