RedBird Capital Partners and Sound Ventures have formed a partnership to invest US$1 billion. The capital will target emerging platforms at the intersection of technology, media, and culture. RedBird is a private investment firm, and Sound Ventures is a Los Angeles-based venture capital firm.

How the partnership works

The two firms will combine RedBird's global reach and business-building expertise with Sound's founder relationships and marketing skills. RedBird X will assist with diligence, portfolio support, and helping companies grow. The unit has already built and backed AI-native companies.

Firm backgrounds

RedBird was founded in 2014 by Gerry Cardinale. It manages over US$21 billion in assets across sports, media, entertainment, and financial services. Sound Ventures is led by Guy Oseary and Effie Epstein and manages over US$2 billion in assets.

Existing investments

Sound has backed companies including Airbnb, Anthropic, OpenAI, Robinhood, and Uber. RedBird X brings a portfolio of AI-native companies into the partnership. Together, the firms plan to support founders building emerging technology companies.

The firms plan to work closely with companies as they scale. Founders will gain access to RedBird's institutional platform and strategic network. The partnership will operate across technology, media, and culture.
