Foodtech app FLTRD has raised more than €500,000 from 4impact capital and a group of fast-moving consumer goods angel investors. Its app lets shoppers scan grocery products to see how processed they are and find healthier alternatives. The funding round comes as the company prepares to grow its team.
Investor support
Jeroen Lubbers and Jan Buining are among the angel investors. They come from the food and consumer goods sector. FLTRD will use the new funds to add team capacity.
Current reach
The app covers more than 150,000 products from seven supermarkets. It is available on iPhone and Android. More than 35,000 people already use it in the Netherlands.
How the PureScore works
The PureScore rates each product on ingredients, processing techniques, and organic certification. Refined ingredients and intensive processing lower the score. Shoppers can use the score to compare a scanned product with healthier alternatives.
FLTRD plans to expand into Belgium before the end of the year. It will also license the PureScore to food producers and retailers. The company targets 100 million users within five years.
