bit.bio, a Cambridge-based human cell programming company, has raised $25 million in Series D funding. Existing investor M&G Investments and Dr. Jonathan Milner, founder and former CEO of Abcam, backed the round. The company produces human cell models for life science research.
Funding so far
The Series D follows a Series C round earlier in 2026. Paid vial volumes increased 76% year to date. The increase reflects record demand for the company's human cell models.
Company momentum
Orders rose 34% year to date. Active customers grew 40%, including a 63% increase among academic customers. The company already has its manufacturing capacity established.
What the company offers
The opti-ox platform produces defined human cell types consistently and at scale. The portfolio spans more than 50 cell types, including heart, liver, and central nervous system models. These cells support disease research, functional genomics, drug discovery, and toxicology.
The new capital will fund portfolio expansion and wider customer access. bit.bio plans to bring additional human cell types to market. It also aims to make its models accessible to researchers worldwide.
