JawBuddy raised €818,000 in Pre-Seed funding led by HALBZEIT. The startup builds an app that supports at-home therapy for jaw pain. Other backers include dentists and a regional investment group.
Funding details
The total includes the Business Angel Bonus from Sächsische Aufbaubank. Participants include Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Sachsen and business angels Christophe Barriolade, Aldrich Huang, Jens Kosche, and Marc Scheidegger. Dentist Dr. Siegfried Marquardt and oral and maxillofacial surgeon Dr. Guido Sigron also joined.
Company context
JawBuddy is based in Leipzig. The app is registered as a Class I medical device under the European Medical Device Regulation. Co-founder and CEO Leon Rauch started the company after experiencing years of jaw pain.
What the app does
JawBuddy delivers personalized therapy exercises for people with craniomandibular dysfunction and bruxism. The app uses a smartphone camera to track therapy progress. It is designed to bridge the gap between dental appointments.
JawBuddy plans a multicenter randomized controlled trial involving 130 patients in December 2026. The startup is also negotiating a service agreement with a major statutory health insurer. A potential start date for that contract is early 2027.
