Outward VC led a US$4.5 million Seed round for Tallia. Tallia builds an AI research and drafting platform for professional tax advisers. The ICAEW, Portfolio Ventures, and angel investors joined the round.
Investor backing
The ICAEW chose Tallia as its partner to evaluate and deploy AI for the profession. The body has more than 211,000 members and students across 150 countries. Outward says no other tax AI company has this combination of endorsement and alignment.
Founding team
Co-founders Jack and Alex met as teenagers on an Army scholarship. Jack qualified as a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser and worked at PwC and Deloitte. Alex served as an Army Captain and Royal Signals Technology Lead.
Product and performance
Tallia uses a proprietary knowledge graph to map legislation, guidance, and case law. The model reasons over connected context rather than isolated text. On a CTA Advanced Technical question, GPT-5 alone scored 48%, while Tallia’s approach scored 93%.
Tallia is hiring engineers and commercial leaders. The company plans to expand into more jurisdictions and deeper workflows. It also aims to become the platform the tax profession runs on.
