mamun has raised a US$3 million Seed round. Phaze Ventures led the round through its Oman Fund. Jasoor Ventures also joined the financing of the Sharia-compliant trade finance platform.
Funding focus
The company will use the funding to scale its AI-native origination and underwriting. It plans to grow the trade volume it can originate, assess, and finance. The focus is the Greater Bay Area, Oman, and UAE corridor.
Company background
mamun was founded by Saleh Al Tamami, Mohammed Al Tamami, and Ahmed Al-Issaei. Its Omani entity holds a Financial Services Authority crowdfunding license. The company ranked 26th on the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Middle East 2025.
How the platform works
mamun's underwriting assesses the company behind a trade and the shipment itself. It reviews contracts, buyers, trade documents, and trading history. Investors on the platform finance the gap between shipment and payment.
The platform's FSA license allows investors from inside and outside Oman to participate. Roughly 40% of its trade finance settlements already clear through Hong Kong-based institutions. mamun will apply the new capital to grow trade along the Gulf and Asia corridor.
