Anthropic announced the release of Claude for Financial Advisors, a suite of connectors and workflow skills designed to reduce the administrative burden on wealth management professionals. The new offering focuses on research, preparation, and documentation tasks that often prevent advisors from spending time with clients. It is intended to help advisory practices operate more efficiently and serve more households.
The Advisor Time Crunch
A typical advisory practice spends only about one-sixth of its time in client meetings, according to Kitces research. The remaining hours go to gathering information across systems and completing preparation, planning, and documentation work. Anthropic also cited an EBRI survey showing over four in ten American workers do not know where to find quality financial or retirement planning advice, suggesting that reclaimed time could expand access.
A Broad Set of Connectors
Claude for Financial Advisors introduces connectors to many of the custodians, asset managers, and wealth technology providers advisory firms already use. Partners include Addepar, BlackRock, Charles Schwab, Envestnet, iCapital, Orion, SS&C Black Diamond, Wealthbox, Wealth.com, Vanguard, and Zocks. These integrations sit alongside existing connectors such as Microsoft 365, Salesforce, DocuSign, Box, FactSet, S&P Global, and Morningstar, allowing advisors to work with client information in one place.
Unified Installation and Partner Plugins
The Claude for Financial Advisors plugin bundles advisor skills and connectors into a single installation. During guided setup, advisors select which systems to connect among partners including BlackRock, Charles Schwab, Addepar, Envestnet, iCapital, Orion, Wealthbox, Wealth.com, and Zocks. Some partners also offer their own plugins, with BlackRock launching one for Advisor Center and existing plugins available from S&P Global and LSEG.
Skills for the Advisor's Workflow
The plugin includes skills for advisor onboarding, alternative investment briefs, compliance and AI policy highlights, estate and tax briefs, portfolio rebalance reviews, post-meeting notes, pre-meeting preparation, and prospect intake. Each skill is designed for a specific moment in an advisor's day and routes tasks to tools the firm already uses. Firms may adopt the skills as they are or modify them to align with their own workflows, service models, and house style.
Human Oversight and Compliance Support
Anthropic emphasized that Claude for Financial Advisors keeps the advisor in control by requiring approval on critical tasks and staging administrative actions for review. The compliance skill screens client-facing language against the SEC Marketing Rule and helps firms document AI use under SEC rules. Workflow activities can be documented to assist firms in maintaining appropriate records and oversight processes.
Expanding Capacity and Service
By automating meeting preparation, follow-up drafts, and pipeline reviews, the suite can help practices expand their customer base and offer more services such as tax, estate, insurance, and retirement planning. Anthropic said investment recommendations, client communications, compliance determinations, and other regulated activities remain subject to human review and approval. The company expects advisors to redirect saved time toward current clients or new households they previously lacked capacity to serve.
Availability and Getting Started
The advisor plugin is available today, and Anthropic recommends Enterprise plans for registered investment advisers because they include audit logs that support recordkeeping. Existing Enterprise users can install the plugin from the Cowork plugin browser or the marketplace and follow the guided setup. Firms that request a new license before the end of September 2026 will also receive a one-time usage credit.
Anthropic positions Claude for Financial Advisors as a way for advisory practices to expand capacity and improve client service. The company will host a webinar on Friday, September 18 at 11 AM Eastern Time to provide additional guidance. Further details are available on the Anthropic solutions page and through the webinar registration process.
