London-based AI startup CodeWords has successfully secured $9 million in a seed funding round led by Visionaries. The company is developing an AI agent named Cody, designed to proactively learn and automate business workflows for non-technical users. This investment will fuel the expansion of its innovative platform, which aims to simplify complex operational tasks for businesses without dedicated technical resources.

Reimagining Business Automation

CodeWords addresses a common frustration with existing automation tools that often require engineering-level expertise to operate. The platform's core agent, Cody, is designed to learn a company's unique processes, tools, and objectives from day one. This proactive approach allows it to build and execute automations without needing manual triggers or complex workflow mapping from the user.

In practical terms, Cody has already demonstrated significant impact for its beta users, handling over 120,000 tasks per month. For instance, it has automated deal flow monitoring for finance teams and streamlined content creation by scraping sources and drafting posts. All tasks run on CodeWords' infrastructure, eliminating any deployment or maintenance burdens for the client.

Strategic Investment and Vision

The $9 million seed round was led by Visionaries, with continued support from pre-seed backer firstminute capital and participation from Sequel and Illusian. The investment is further bolstered by a notable group of angel investors, including the CEOs of Miro, ElevenLabs, and Personio. This strong backing from industry leaders underscores confidence in CodeWords' mission to redefine business automation.

With the new capital, CodeWords plans to significantly expand its engineering and go-to-market teams to accelerate growth. The primary objective is to scale the platform and make Cody a ubiquitous background agent for businesses of all sizes. The company aims to empower teams that lack dedicated IT resources to achieve the same level of efficiency as larger enterprises.

Platform Enhancements and Founder Vision

Coinciding with the funding announcement, CodeWords is launching three key platform enhancements to improve its agent's capabilities. These include contextual memory for continuous learning, WhatsApp integration for seamless team communication, and adaptive "Cody Modes" for tailored task execution. These features are designed to make the agent feel like an intuitive and knowledgeable team member.

The company's mission is deeply rooted in the personal experiences of its co-founders, Aymeric Zhuo and Osman Ramadan. Their diverse backgrounds inspired a shared passion for building accessible technology that empowers users regardless of their technical expertise. They aim to solve the problem of tools that assume a user already possesses specialized knowledge to operate them effectively.

This latest funding round positions CodeWords to challenge the established norms of business process automation. By focusing on a proactive, learning-based AI agent, the company is poised to make sophisticated automation accessible to a much broader market. As Cody's capabilities continue to evolve, it represents a significant step toward a future where intelligent agents seamlessly manage operational tasks.
