Women in Tech's Sunflower Hack returns on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, offering a beginner-friendly and low-pressure environment for participants to enhance their skills in team development, creative thinking, and efficiency. The event is designed for computer science, information systems, business analytics, and other majors, providing a valuable opportunity to gain experience working in a team under a time constraint and presenting a final product to a panel of judges. The hackathon does not require previous coding experience, and individuals with all levels of experience are strongly encouraged to attend.

Eligibility and Team Formation

• Eligibility: The hackathon is open to any Pace University undergraduate student above the age of 18.
• Team Size: Participants will form teams of 2 to 4 members.
• Networking: Opportunities will be provided for participants to interact with each other before the event to form their teams.

Project and Submission Requirements

• What to Build: Teams will have 4 hours to develop an idea based on a theme to be announced. Projects should focus on addressing the theme, with an encouragement to build solutions that raise awareness, reduce environmental impact, or promote sustainable practices.
• What to Submit: A presentation explaining the functionality of the project and a video demonstration.

Judging Criteria and Judges

• Judging Criteria: Submissions will be evaluated based on Creativity, Originality, Feasibility, and Impact.
• Judges: Dr. Falcone, Dr. Shan, and Dr. Amirian.

Prizes and Winner Selection

• Winning Teams: A total of 5 teams will be selected as winners.
• Prize Categories: One winner will be chosen for each of the four criteria (Creativity, Originality, Feasibility, Impact), and one overall winner will be selected for best fitting all criteria.
• Prize Details: Each participant in the winning teams will receive a non-cash prize. Winners can choose from a selection of items including digital cameras, JBL headphones, gift cards, skincare sets, makeup sets, phone banks, and wireless mice.
