The Greater Sudbury Business Incubator Program offers a comprehensive six-month initiative designed to support aspiring and new entrepreneurs in launching and expanding their early-stage businesses. Participants gain access to a wide range of resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities within a vibrant community of entrepreneurs and experts. The program is provided at no cost and aims to equip founders with the necessary tools and connections to achieve their business objectives. Please note, this program is not affiliated with the Start-up Visa Program.


Program Details and Offerings

• Program Duration: A 6-month incubator membership with a minimum commitment of 2 hours per week.
• Alumni Support: Graduates have the opportunity for continued access to mentorship for an additional 6 months.
• Mentorship: Access to one-on-one guidance from experienced mentors and community business leaders for up to a year on topics such as business strategy, sales, marketing, and pricing.
• Professional Development: Specially curated workshops, seminars, and networking events covering subjects like marketing and finance.
• Connections and Networking: Introductions to business advisors, professionals, government funding programs, potential clients, investors, and collaborators through events hosted with the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce and NORCAT.
• Community and Support: Engagement with a community of entrepreneurs through Peer2Peer socials, ongoing group and individual pitch practices, and milestone development meetings with the Incubator Program Coordinator.
• Exposure and Perks: Marketing and media exposure through program initiatives, along with special discounts and offers from a network of collaborators.

Eligibility Criteria

• Business Stage: Early-stage for-profit businesses from any sector offering innovative, creative, or unique products or services.
• Operational Status: The business has either not yet begun operating or has been generating revenue for less than 12 months.
• Launch Timeline: The business is expected to be launched and/or operational within 12 months.
• Entrepreneur Profile: Aspiring or new entrepreneurs who are driven, coachable, collaborative, and demonstrate a strong desire to learn and enhance their skills.
• Location: The business must be located in, intending to expand to, or willing to relocate to Greater Sudbury.

Timeline and Schedule

• Application Intake: Applications are open year-round, with small cohorts joining twice per year.
• Next Cohort: The upcoming cohort is scheduled to run from July 21 to December 1, 2026.
• Application Deadline: Applications for the next cohort close on June 1st.
• Program Structure: The program includes 8 in-person group workshops led by mentors, a choice of 7 or more virtual webinars or in-person networking opportunities, and mentorship sessions arranged at the participant's convenience.

Application Process

• Step 1: Complete the online application form through the City of Greater Sudbury's portal.
• Step 2: Following a review, selected applicants will be contacted to schedule an introductory call to discuss their business model and needs.
• Step 3: A limited number of applicants will be invited to an in-person interview to pitch their business and participate in a Q&A session with the Selection Committee.
• Step 4: All interviewed applicants will be notified of their application status within 5 business days following their interview.
