The Food Systems Innovation Challenge is designed to identify and support early-stage innovators developing practical, scalable solutions to address constraints within Africa’s food system. The initiative supports entrepreneurs building solutions that improve food security, expand access to nutrition, and create meaningful economic opportunities across the continent’s value chain, from production and processing to logistics and market access.
Eligibility and Applicant Profile
• The challenge is open to early-stage innovators, startups, researchers, youth-led teams, and women-led teams.
• Applicants should be working on solutions to critical food system challenges.
• Ideal candidates are those developing viable and scalable solutions that improve how Africa grows, processes, transports, or consumes food.

• Food Waste Reduction: Models that reduce post-harvest losses, recycle waste, and promote circularity.
• Nutrition & Consumer Food Solutions: Products or platforms that improve access to nutrition, affordability, and food choices.
