EIT Health has announced a call for proposals targeting innovative digital and AI-powered medical technologies that are prepared for clinical validation and market introduction. The initiative aims to support selected projects by providing funding for pivotal clinical studies, the collection of real-world evidence to establish safety and efficacy, assistance with regulatory approval processes, and preparation for commercial market entry.
Program Scope and Funded Activities
• Project Duration: Funding will be awarded for a period of up to 24 months.
• Supported Activities: The grant supports activities that enable clinical validation such as pivotal clinical studies, regulatory submission including CE-mark application dossiers, product finalization, and the development of market readiness and commercial strategies.
Eligibility Criteria
• Consortium Requirement: Applicants must form a consortium of at least two organizations from different countries, representing a minimum of two sides of the Knowledge Triangle (industry, research, education).
• Leadership: The project must be led by a commercializing company.
• Solution Requirements: Eligible solutions are required to be digital or AI-enabled medical devices (MDR/IVDR).
• Maturity Level: Projects must be at an Innovation Maturity Level (IML) 6 at the start, with the goal of reaching IML 7 by the project's conclusion, as defined by EIT Health’s Healthcare Innovation Cycle Framework.
Funding Details
• Grant Amount: EIT Health will fund up to 50% of the total project budget, with a maximum grant of €850,000 per project.
• Agreement: The commercializing entity is required to sign a Financial Sustainability Contribution Agreement.
• SME Provision: In cases where the commercializing entity is a micro or small enterprise, it must receive between €400,000 and €500,000 of the total grant.
Expected Outcomes
• Patient Impact: Solutions must demonstrate the potential to impact 150,000 EU patients or citizens.
• Commercial Target: Projects should aim to be on the market and generating a minimum of €10,000 in revenues within three years following the funding period.

• Application Step 1: Organizations must register on the EU Funding & tender opportunities portal to receive a nine-digit Participant Identification Code (PIC number).
• Application Step 2: Proposals must be submitted through EIT Health’s official application platform.
• Matchmaking Event: EIT Health will host networking rounds on March 24, 25, and 26, 2026, for interested parties to connect with members and external partners.
• Matchmaking Registration: To participate in the networking rounds, registration is required by 20 March 2026.
