Pan-African digital bank Zazu has partnered with global payments leader Visa to introduce a fully digital business account for Moroccan entrepreneurs and small businesses. This collaboration aims to simplify financial management by integrating core banking services into a single, user-friendly platform. The new offering addresses a significant gap in the market, providing SMEs with modern tools to manage their finances efficiently.

A Strategic Alliance for Moroccan SMEs

The launch is underpinned by a strategic three-way partnership between Zazu, Visa, and local fintech infrastructure provider, Chari. Zazu delivers the financial operating system, Visa provides its global payments network, and Chari contributes its payment license and market expertise. This powerful alliance creates a comprehensive and locally compliant digital banking solution specifically designed for the Moroccan market.

This expansion into Morocco follows a successful $1 million pre-seed funding round secured by Zazu just four months prior. The investment from notable firms like Plug and Play, Bell Ventures, and Ryad Ventures is fueling the company's rollout. This financial backing demonstrates strong investor confidence in Zazu's mission to modernize SME banking across Africa.

Streamlining Business Banking Operations

A key feature of the new service is its completely digital onboarding process, allowing entrepreneurs to open a professional account in just ten minutes. This eliminates the lengthy paperwork and delays commonly associated with traditional banking procedures in the region. The streamlined know-your-customer checks provide immediate access to essential financial services for fast-moving businesses.

Zazu's platform collapses multiple financial tools into one cohesive dashboard for enhanced efficiency. Users can create and send invoices, generate payment links to accelerate collections, and benefit from automatic payment reconciliation. This integration gives businesses real-time visibility of their cash flow without needing separate software systems.

The partnership enables Zazu to issue Visa Business cards, providing a robust expense management layer for its clients. Companies can distribute multiple cards to their teams, each with customizable spending limits and controls. All transactions are tracked in real time, offering founders complete oversight of team expenditures.

Addressing a Market Need and Future Ambitions

Zazu is directly targeting a long-standing gap in Morocco’s financial landscape, where SMEs have struggled with cumbersome banking processes. Co-founder Germain Bahri noted that entrepreneurs often waste time navigating complex interfaces and disputing unexpected fees. The new platform is designed to simplify these day-to-day banking challenges and provide clarity.

With over 300 businesses already onboarded, including Jobzyn and Auto24, Zazu is demonstrating early market traction. The company positions itself as a "Mercury-style" banking experience for Africa, built on API-driven integrations for various finance tools. This launch in Morocco is a crucial step in its broader pan-African expansion strategy.

The collaboration between Zazu and Visa marks a significant milestone for Morocco's fintech ecosystem and its growing SME sector. By providing a modern, all-in-one digital banking solution, the partnership is set to empower entrepreneurs and drive financial innovation. This move not only strengthens Zazu's presence on the continent but also signals a promising future for accessible business banking across Africa.
