Vitara Agritech raised EUR 1.8 million in equity funding. EDFI Management Company invested through the EU-funded AgriFI Ghana Country Window, alongside Acumen and angel investors. The Ghanaian agritech company builds traceable shea supply chains.
Investor backing
The AgriFI Ghana Country Window is a EUR 10 million facility focused on smallholder farmers. It supports private sector enterprises in Ghana's five northern regions. The transaction is AgriFI's first direct equity investment in Ghana.
Company footprint
Vitara was founded in 2020 and was formerly known as Sommalife. It connects smallholder shea producers to international manufacturers, mainly in Europe. Around 91% of its farmers are women, with about 47,000 women farmers active last season.
TreeSyt platform
The company operates a proprietary digital platform called TreeSyt. It supports farmer profiling, sourcing, training, and tree monitoring. The tool adds traceability to a value chain that has relied on informal intermediaries.
Vitara plans to scale toward one million farmers by 2030. It will use the funding to expand work with women producers and strengthen its reach. The company also aims to build a more transparent and sustainable supply chain.
