Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation and Merck signed a collaboration agreement on October 26, 2026. Merck, active in life science, healthcare, and electronics, will open the Merck Hong Kong Centre at Hong Kong Science Park. The centre will offer advanced scientific products, live demonstrations, and expert consultation to local startups and researchers.
Partnership scope
The agreement covers four main initiatives. A training and consultation effort will connect Merck experts with startups and researchers. An innovation scouting program will identify promising companies for possible partnerships, pilot projects, or venture investment.
Ecosystem context
Hong Kong Science Park currently hosts around 400 life and health technology companies. It offers research and development infrastructure and one-stop support services. The partnership will connect those companies with Merck's global resources.
What the centre provides
The Merck Hong Kong Centre will sit next to HKSTP's shared biomedical laboratory. It will place Merck products and experts near scientists and startups. It will support reliable workflows from early experimentation to scale-up.
Merck described the Hong Kong Centre as the first step of its commitment in Hong Kong. The partners will also co-host an annual Merck Innovation Day at Hong Kong Science Park. The event will focus on life science, healthcare, and electronics.
