Tiny Health has raised $33 million in an oversubscribed Series B funding round led by B Capital, bringing the microbiome intelligence company's total funding to $46 million. Existing investors Spero Ventures, The Venture City, and Overwater Ventures participated alongside new backers including Black Opal Ventures, Denver Ventures, Pave Health Ventures, Alumni Ventures, Gaingels, and Pari Passu Ventures. The Austin-based company plans to use the capital to expand clinical research, strengthen practitioner education, and scale its microbiome testing and data infrastructure across consumer and healthcare markets.
Expanding Microbiome Research
Alongside the financing, Tiny Health announced a $5 million Microbiome Research Program designed to support researchers, clinicians, and scientific partners studying the relationship between the microbiome and human health. Participants will be able to use the company's testing technology, datasets, and research capabilities to investigate microbiome interventions and generate additional clinical evidence. The initiative reflects Tiny Health's broader strategy of narrowing the gap between emerging microbiome science and its application in routine healthcare.
The company has already published four scientific papers and is conducting a second randomized controlled trial while expanding research into areas including inflammatory bowel disease, menopause, GLP-1 treatments, and oncology drug response. Tiny Health also points to a 2025 randomized controlled study examining microbiome interventions in infants, which reported a substantial reduction in the likelihood of developing eczema among participants receiving targeted interventions. Its research is supported by a longitudinal dataset built from nearly 200,000 microbiome profiles collected across different life stages.
Building an AI-Powered Platform
Part of the Series B proceeds will support the continued development of TinyAI, the company's artificial intelligence system trained on its proprietary microbiome dataset. The technology is designed to combine an individual's microbiome results with Tiny Health's scientific models to produce personalized recommendations and health insights. As the underlying dataset expands, the company expects the platform to deliver increasingly precise guidance while supporting a broader range of clinical and consumer applications.
Tiny Health is also scaling Powered by Tiny, its business-to-business platform serving healthcare practitioners, health companies, and precision medicine providers. The platform recorded fourfold growth over the previous year and now supports enterprise partners across the healthcare ecosystem, while the broader Tiny Health network includes more than 6,000 healthcare practitioners. The company says adult testing has surpassed pediatric testing in volume, reflecting its expansion beyond its original focus on babies and maternal health.
From Early-Life Health to Longevity
Founded in 2020 and launched commercially in 2022, Tiny Health initially developed microbiome testing focused on babies and mothers using shotgun metagenomic sequencing. Its early work centered on the first 1,000 days of life, a period in which the gut microbiome develops rapidly and may influence immune function and long-term health outcomes. The company has since expanded its products to children and adults while developing tools intended to measure microbiome resilience, biological aging, and connections between gut health and other physiological systems.
Tiny Health argues that microbiome assessment should move beyond attempts to define a single universal model of a healthy gut. Instead, its approach evaluates characteristics such as microbial diversity, metabolic function, resilience, immune markers, and potentially harmful organisms to provide more individualized interpretations. The company is working to standardize how those measurements are generated and analyzed as microbiome testing moves toward wider adoption within precision health and clinical practice.
The Series B gives Tiny Health additional capital to expand research, artificial intelligence capabilities, healthcare partnerships, and commercial adoption of its microbiome platform. B Capital Senior Principal Nick Whitehead is joining the company's board of directors as part of the investment, while the firm continues positioning microbiome data as an increasingly important component of personalized healthcare. With its new research program and growing clinical infrastructure, Tiny Health is seeking to extend microbiome intelligence from early childhood through adulthood and healthy aging.
