Teachers’ Venture Growth, the late-stage venture and growth investment arm of Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, has made a follow-on investment in human capital management platform Darwinbox. The transaction represents TVG’s second investment in the company after first backing Darwinbox in 2025, while financial terms of the latest investment were not disclosed. The renewed commitment comes as Darwinbox expands its international presence and increases its focus on artificial intelligence across its enterprise HR technology platform.

TVG Reinforces Its Commitment to Darwinbox

TVG said its continued investment reflects its confidence in Darwinbox’s ability to reshape workforce management for large enterprises operating across multiple markets. Darius Vakil, Managing Director at Teachers’ Venture Growth, highlighted the company’s launch of its AI-native Cortex platform as an example of its product development and customer-focused approach. He also described the investment as an important milestone as Darwinbox works to strengthen its business in North America.

The follow-on investment adds to Darwinbox’s backing from a group of global institutional and technology investors. Its existing investors include KKR, Partners Group, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, Microsoft, Salesforce Ventures, TCV, and Peak XV Partners. The support of these investors has accompanied Darwinbox’s expansion beyond its home market into regions including the United States, the Middle East, India, and Southeast Asia.

Building a Global HCM Platform

Founded in 2015 by Jayant Paleti, Chaitanya Peddi, Rohit Chennamaneni, and Vineet Singh, Darwinbox develops cloud-based human capital management software for large organizations. Its platform supports functions across the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, workforce administration, talent management, and employee retention. The company says its technology is designed to simplify HR operations while providing more personalized digital experiences for employees.

Darwinbox now serves more than 1,400 companies and approximately 4.5 million employees worldwide, according to figures provided by the company. It also reported a compound annual growth rate of 70% over the past five years as it expanded across its major international markets. Continued investment in workflow automation and enterprise HR infrastructure remains central to its broader product strategy.

Cortex Expands Darwinbox’s AI Strategy

In August, Darwinbox introduced Darwinbox Cortex, an AI-native HCM platform intended to integrate artificial intelligence more deeply into employee and HR workflows. The platform launched with pilot customers including Visteon and Transcarent, both of which are large enterprise organizations. Darwinbox is developing Cortex alongside technology partners including Microsoft, Slack, and Glean to extend AI capabilities into applications and tools employees already use.

Rather than positioning AI solely as an additional feature, Darwinbox is incorporating intelligence, organizational context, and automated execution into the underlying HCM environment. The company says Cortex includes capabilities such as a Context Graph designed to improve how AI systems understand enterprise information and workflows. Darwinbox plans to work with customers on adoption while increasing the use of AI across day-to-day workforce processes.

Expanding Enterprise Automation

Darwinbox’s broader strategy centers on increasing automation across HR functions while reducing operational complexity for large companies. Its technology is designed to connect different stages of workforce management within a unified system, allowing businesses to manage processes ranging from employee onboarding to performance and retention. The company is increasingly positioning AI as a core component of those workflows as enterprises reconsider how human resources software is built and used.

The latest backing from TVG gives Darwinbox additional institutional support as it pursues growth in established and emerging enterprise technology markets. North America is becoming a particularly important part of that strategy, while the company continues to maintain significant operations across Asia and the Middle East. Its growing customer base and AI-focused product development form the foundation of its next phase of expansion.

Teachers’ Venture Growth’s second investment in Darwinbox strengthens an existing relationship as the HCM company continues scaling internationally and developing its AI capabilities. With Cortex now forming a central part of its technology strategy, Darwinbox is seeking to embed artificial intelligence directly into enterprise workforce management rather than treating it as a standalone layer. The follow-on investment positions the company to continue expanding its platform, customer base, and presence across major global markets.
