Clip acquired Pulpos, a cloud-based business management system used by thousands of Mexican merchants. The Mexico City fintech also appointed Debra Chrapaty to its board of directors. The deal expands Clip's tools beyond payment acceptance.

Deal terms

Pulpos will continue operating under its own brand and team. Existing customers of both companies keep their current accounts and terms. Clip will introduce new combined capabilities gradually.

Clip's history

Clip was founded in 2012 by former PayPal executives Adolfo Babatz and Vilash Poovala. It became a unicorn in 2021 after a US$250 million investment from SoftBank and Viking. In June 2026, it secured a US$500 million investment subject to regulatory approval.

What merchants get

Pulpos offers point of sale, inventory, CFDI 4.0 electronic invoicing, finances, and an online store. Its AI agents can serve small businesses through WhatsApp. After integration, a sale will be able to update inventory and generate invoicing information automatically.

Chrapaty most recently served as CTO of Toast. She also held technology roles at Wells Fargo, Amazon, and Microsoft. Clip said her experience adds cloud and financial services expertise to its board.
