Riyadh based financial technology company Tabby announced on 14 September 2026 that it has raised $233 million in a new equity round at a $6.5 billion valuation. The round was led by Blue Pool Capital, with participation from existing shareholders HSG, Wellington Management and Arbor Ventures. The funding includes a liquidity option for employees and will support Tabby's expansion beyond buy now, pay later into broader financial services across Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
Funding Details and Valuation
Tabby has been profitable since 2023 and currently processes more than $18 billion in annualised transaction volume. The company serves 25 million registered users and 70,000 business partners across Saudi Arabia and the UAE. This latest capital injection is intended to support the next stage of growth without altering the company's disciplined approach to expansion.
Employee Liquidity and Profitability
Since 2023 Tabby has run share tenders that have facilitated more than $100 million in share sales. These programmes give current and former employees the opportunity to realise part of the value they helped create. The new round also includes a liquidity option, reinforcing the company's focus on aligning employee incentives with long term growth.
Strategic Expansion into Saudi Arabia
Over the past year Tabby has secured licences that allow it to expand its services to consumers and businesses. In Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Central Bank granted consumer and SME finance licences, enabling larger and longer term financing for customers and working capital for businesses. Tabby also acquired Tweeq, a SAMA licensed digital wallet, extending its capabilities into accounts, cards and transfers.
Digital Wallet and UAE Plans
In the UAE, Tabby secured a Stored Value Facilities licence from the Central Bank of the UAE to launch Tabby Cash. This product is positioned as an alternative to a debit account with no account or card fees, cashback on card spending, and local and international money transfers. The move demonstrates Tabby's broader ambition to become a full service digital financial platform.
Investor Perspectives
Hosam Arab, CEO and Co-Founder of Tabby, said the company began with a checkout button to help people spread costs over time and has kept that focus on giving people more from their money. Christopher Wu, Chief Investment Officer at Blue Pool Capital, noted Tabby's ability to innovate beyond payments into a trusted platform for millions of users. Blue Pool Capital expressed pride in its three year partnership and excitement about supporting the company's continued growth.
Regulatory Approvals and Company Outlook
The transaction remains subject to applicable regulatory approvals, including approval from the Saudi Central Bank. Tabby serves Saudi Arabia and the UAE, working with more than 70,000 global and local brands including SHEIN, Amazon, Apple, IKEA, Jarir, Samsung and noon. The company positions itself as a financial technology platform giving millions of people more power over their money and flexibility in everyday spending.
Tabby's latest equity round underscores investor confidence in the Middle East fintech sector and the company's profitable growth model. By expanding from buy now, pay later into licensed digital financial services, Tabby aims to deepen its role in how consumers and businesses manage money. The new funding and regulatory approvals position Tabby to accelerate product development while preserving the operational discipline that has defined its success.
