Sonexos SA has raised CHF 5 million, or about US$6.1 million, in a Pre-Series A round. The Swiss company develops thin panels that absorb low-frequency noise electronically. Valquest Partners led the round, with participation from Bosch Ventures and private investors.

Use of funds

The funding will support the move from engineered prototypes to qualified industrial products. Sonexos will invest in customer integration, reliability testing, qualification, and regulatory compliance. It also plans to expand engineering and applications teams in Switzerland and internationally.

Company background

Sonexos was founded by CEO Mark Donaldson, a longtime active noise control entrepreneur. CTO Dr. Stanislav Sergeev developed the core plasmacoustic technology at EPFL, which licenses it to the company. COO Andrea Onetti joined after leading STMicroelectronics' MEMS Sub-Group.

How the panels work

The Plasmapanel packages a software-controlled plasma layer into a sealed, inert-gas-filled module. It absorbs sound from 30 Hz to 1,500 Hz and takes less than a fifth of the space and weight of similar passive silencers. Under application-specific test conditions, prototypes reduced low-frequency noise by up to 20 dB in ventilation and 16 dB in domestic appliances.

Sonexos is running paid prototype-integration programs with global appliance and HVAC manufacturers. It plans a first working demonstrator with fan partner SIT at CES 2027. First series production is targeted for early 2028.
